These 2 New Stores Give Home Goods and T.J. Maxx a Run For Their Money

There’s nothing quite as exciting as scoring a great deal. Maybe seeing your kid walk for the first time hits high on some people’s lists, but grabbing a crystal bowl for a fraction of its retail price or getting an artisanal food product that isn’t usually available is our idea of a great time.

That’s why the news that Southern Living and HomeSense stores are expanding is so exciting.

Southern Living

Southern Living, which carries food, fashion, beauty, home decor, and other items produced by Southern artisans, already has a store in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The new stores will be in Destin, Florida, and Huntsville, Alabama.

Customers can expect to see brands including Charleston Tea, Face to Face, Merry Cheese Crisps, and Uwharrie Chair Co. The stores will also include Southern Living branded books and will host book signings and samplings of the specialty food items. This store seems to be a great fit for one-of-a-kind, specialty or artisanal items you won’t find at your local department or grocery store. It would be a great place to get gifts for out-of-town guests.

HomeSense

HomeSense, a Home Goods sibling store which already has stores in Canada and Europe, plans to open four U.S. stores in 2017. Parent company TJX (which also includes TJ Maxx and Marshall’s) CEO Ernie Herrman says, “HomeSense will offer consumers a different mix of home fashions from HomeGoods, but at the same great value.”

Although the HomeGoods and HomeSense concepts are similar, Herrman is confident loyal shoppers will find reason to shop at both stores. HomeGoods is known for its discount prices and HomeSense seems to have a similar vibe. There have been entire apartments elevated by a simple trip to HomeGoods and the gourmet food section is no slouch either. If it sounds like this is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon, I agree.
