Aldi is probably best known for its award-winning wines and rock-bottom prices, but the German grocery chain is also a very good place to put together a holiday stocking. They have traditional German Christmas cookies, socks, and all the nuts and chocolates a person could eat — all at extremely low prices.

Check out the 12 best stocking stuffers to buy at Aldi.

1 / 13
  1. Winternacht Chocolate Figurines, $3 for 8.8 ounces: These are basically the big chocolate bunnies that are the best part of Easter, but they’re helpfully Christmas-themed. You get a giant Santa and a generous assortment of chocolate ornaments for just $3. Take them out of the cellophane baggie and arrange them in a stocking or two (you get a ton of candy in each one!).
  2. Specially Selected Caramel Wafers, $2 for 14 ounces: Stroopwafels! Stroopwafels are a classic Dutch cookie that consists of two thin waffles with a layer of honey or caramel between them. They’re great on their own, right out of the package, but they really shine when eaten with coffee or tea. Tell the recipient to pop one on top of her mug for a few minutes, and the hot steam from the cup will warm the cookie and make the inside layer soft and gooey.
  3. Clancy’s Dipped Peppermint Pretzel Stars, $2 for 7 ounces: We all might get tired of peppermint someday, but not yet. These white-chocolate pretzels are covered in crushed peppermint, and they’re shaped like stars for optimal holiday cheer.
  4. Choceur Speculoos Truffles, $3 for 5.1 ounces: These Belgian chocolate truffles are filled with a soft, speculoos-flavored core. The combination of cinnamon, ginger, cloves, cardamom, and nutmeg tastes like Christmas. (The chocolate doesn’t hurt, either.)
  5. Christkindl Glühwein, $5 for 1 liter: I lived in Germany for five years, and this German spiced wine tastes just like the Glühwein served every year at the local Christmas market. It’s warming, spicy, and fragrant, and it’s fabulous. You’ll just need an extra-big stocking to stuff it into.
  6. Baker’s Corner Layered Baking Jar Mix, $5: Full of cookie-making ingredients stacked in neat layers, these jars always look so seasonal and festive. These come in chocolate chip, gingerbread, oatmeal chocolate chip, and triple chocolate chip.
  7. Specially Selected Pistachio Blend, $6 for 13 ounces: This mix of dark chocolate pistachios, dried cranberries, pistachios, almonds, white chocolate chips, and pitted cherries is basically the fanciest, most indulgent trail mix you will ever see.
  8. Holiday Pajama Pants, $5: It’s traditional to give pajamas at Christmas, and these are so, so comfortable. They’re soft fleece with an elastic waistband that’s perfect for the holidays, and best of all they have pockets. Think about it: It’s so much easier to relax around the house if you have a convenient place to put your phone. The wacky prints are just the right amount of geeky, and you can even get the same print for the whole family, so everybody matches.
  9. Benton’s Candy Cane Cremes, $2 for 15.25 ounces: The ubiquitous combination of chocolate and peppermint is the best thing about the holidays. These are basically Oreo cookies filled with candy cane cream, and there’s nothing more perfect than that.
  10. Adventuridge Merino Wool Socks, $3: These do not feel like $2.99 socks. They’re stretchy and warm, and the merino wool makes them feel extremely luxurious.
  11. Benner Holiday Teas, $2 for 20: Available in three different flavors — chai, cinnamon spice, and candy cane — you can pick between something minty or something warming.
  12. Batteries, $5 for 24: Someone always needs batteries for something under the tree, and chances are good that everyone else will forget to buy them.
